TROCHANTRIC BURSISTIS

Trochanteric Bursitis is inflammation (swelling ) of the bursa (fluid-filled sac near a joint). Which is located outside (lateral point of the hip known as the greater trochanter. When this bursa becomes irritated or inflamed, it causes pain in the hip. Causes of trochanteric bursitis include:

Symptoms Include:

Pain on outer hop & thigh or buttock

Pain when you press outer hips

Pain walking up the stairs

Pain when lying on side

Pain gets worse when getting up from a sitting position
The Bursa is a sac filled with lubricating fluid, located between tissues such as bones, muscles, tendons, & skins, that decreases rubbing, friction, & irritation. Located of the outside of each hip, sitting on top of the greater trochanter & underneath the gluteal muscles & tendons.
A healthy trochanteric Bursa allows for the muscles to glide alone their bony attachments as you move & walk. When the outside hip bursae get inflamed (swollen), you have trochanteric bursitis.
